March Card Swap... getting a little better :)

I am not huge on scrapbooking, for now, but I do love to make cards! I got the cutest cards from the February card swap and I was able to use them for... Card Making 102 Teresa's Card Improvement Class :) I really got wonderful ideas on making adorable cards from the ladies I swapped with!

Here are the cards I sent in for the March Swap... I like them so much more than what I made for the February swap :))

I printed the bunny image off the computer, then I colored him in using chalk, and colored in the carrot and flower  with a marker to make them really stand out. I used the chalk to age the edges a little. My favorite part was coloring, lol, as an adult coloring is so relaxing!

Hand painted manicure, fellow blogger inspired

I am totally in awe over this artist, she does the most amazingly cute designs on nails! She has been doing this 31 day nail art challenge and has hand painted some of the cutest designs on her nails including Alvin and the Chipmunks, http://polishartaddiction.blogspot.com/2012/02/31-day-challenge-day-1-red.html
Care bears http://polishartaddiction.blogspot.com/2012/03/31-day-challenge-day-9-rainbow.html,  101 Dalmatians, http://polishartaddiction.blogspot.com/2012/03/31-day-challenge-day-13-animal-print.html  and my favorite... Flower from Bambi! http://polishartaddiction.blogspot.com/2012/03/31-day-challenge-day-14-flowers.html

Leslie is so generous to actually give picture tutorials on how she paints her nails. So, I gave her flowers a try... there was no way I was going to try Flower himself :)

I am pretty happy with the way it turned out; (don't look too close at the right hand :) though not nearly at pretty as Leslie's :)

My Fail at a Slouch Crochet Hat... but Funny Pics!

About a month ago I was sitting in church and noticed a girl wearing this really cute crocheted hat. I found out it is called a slouch hat.... too cute! I searched for a pattern and found this:

http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2010/01/crochet-kingston-hat.html

The pattern was great, but I ended up with the hat portion way to large so I had to take it in through the rim and it ended up looking like a shower cap... not a super cute one like you can find here:
http://retrorevivalbiz.blogspot.com/

No, mine is not cute at all, not even as a shower  cap. The embarrassing thing is I actually wore it out in PUBLIC for a few hours while traveling a couple of weeks ago.  I thought it looked OK the morning we left; it kept me from having to do my hair... but YIKES when I caught a view of myself at the gas station I laughed out loud! My 15 year old daughter got a good laugh as well :)

We got an even harder, belly hurting laugh when my husband tried it on one night and entertained us with the many uses of this one failed crochet hat. He turned it into a great golf cap!

It also became an artist's beret!

Then it was the Green Beret...

Then it turned into the chef hat...

Ah... the hat brought out the French in him
Maybe it is not a fail after all :)

Stay hydrated! Crochet Water Bottle Carry Along

This is my latest successful crochet project. I say successful because I recently made a hat that was a fail... my family did have a lot of fun with it though, I will post some very funny and silly pictures of the hat next time :) But for now, I have a success to show :) I found this great pattern for a water bottle carry along. I just added a stripe and a flower (have to have my girly accent) to the pattern. This is a great pattern and you can find it here for FREE :)

Spring Green Manicure

I guess I might be jumping the gun a little bit, I hear that March/April are the months that Colorado gets the most snow. But... I am ready for spring and I painted my nails like spring is on the way :) I am ready for some green grass and pretty spring flowers... aren't you??

I do like the way this manicure turned out, and I absolutely love this pretty green color made by China Glaze!!
