My Crochet Scarf Super Easy Pattern

Hi All. As it turns out I do have a little more time to crochet now that I closed my Etsy shop. And the cool thing is that I now live in a cold enough place to wear crocheted items! South GA just did not have many days that required ear warming head bands and scarfs, lol!

This is how I made this simple but pretty scarf.
I wish I could tell you exactly what yarn I used but I lost the little sleeve that goes around the yarn. I do remember that it is a wool blend, like just 20% wool. And it is a size 5 yarn, so a bulky. But, you could easily hold 2 strands of worsted weight yarn together and get something pretty close. I have done that before myself :) And I used a  size J hook.

Start by making a chain of 24 and turn
Row 1: In the 6th chain from hook *make 4 double crochets, chain 2, 1 double crochet* (all in the 6th chain). Skip next 6 chains and repeat from *to* , skip another 6 chains and repeat from * to * you should now have 4 chains left, skip 3 chains and double crochet in the last chain. Turn

Row 2: Chain 2. Skip 2 double crochets. In the chain 2 space repeat * to * in row 1. Skip next 5 double crochets, in the chain 2 space repeat *to*. Repeat this step one last time. End with double crochet in turning chain. Turn

Repeat row 2 until desired length.

See.... told you it was easy! ;-)

The adorable little head band/ear warmer that you see me wearing in the picture came from this pattern... http://pardonmychaos-amanda.blogspot.com/2011/11/back-at-it.html
I really liked this pattern, it worked up fast and is super cute! I just added a flower for a little girly appeal :)

  1. I am very new to crochet so I'm still trying to get used to terminology and reading patterns. I have successfully (I think) completed row 1, but I have a question about how to proceed with row 2.
You say "In the chain 2 space repeat * to * in row 1." Does this mean I work into the chain 2 stitches or that I work into the space that was created by chaining 2?

    Thanks!!!!

  4. Hi! I love your pattern, but I am also confused on Row 2. I've chained two, I am not sure where I am skipping two dc at? Also, where exactly am I working in the "chain 2 space"? Is that the chain I just created?

Do you have any pictures or diagrams to help?

    Thanks!!

  6. So already confused... on row one you say go in 6th chain from hook then you do what is in asteriks then you skip 6 chains and do it again then skip six chains and do it again and then I should only have four chains left? well I have six chains left which make sense since the foundation chain had 24. 6 times four is 24 lol what am I missing? :)

  7. So sorry. I figured it out now... You skip 6 chains then work in seventh chain then you would have four chains left. oops sorry

  9. Fantastic pattern! I am brand new to crochet and I actually made this scarf (and it turned out lovely!). I also tried a modified version with softer, thinner yarn, and only chaining 18 to start. This makes the scarf thinner (the way my niece likes them). You are great, thank you so much!

  12. Thanks for the pattern. Quick and easy but looks really effective. My nanny was complaining about the cold one day and by the next she had a new scarf and I was a ball lighter in my stash. It's a great take along project as it it takes no time to memorise the pattern. Only problem is that I now have a bit of a queue of people who want one!

    1. Hi Joanie. I agree! I've now made it in lots of different yarns - you just have to play around with the hook size and the starting chain length. I think my favourite one was in Kidsilk Haze.

  15. Thank you, very easy and pretty pattern, great for my homespun yarn since the last stitch is the only one going into a stitch vs a space

  18. I was wondering how many do you chain to make the scarf wider?

  19. Woulda you happen to have a YouTube video, and did you make this pattern or did it come somewhere else.. I am a visual learner so just seeing if someone had made this into a video.
